2011 Ghost Ranch Workshop Schedule
The workshop will begin after lunch on Friday (1:00 p.m.) and end after lunch on Sunday. Friday evening will include a pot luck dessert and social hour, after dinner has been served at the Ghost Ranch cafeteria. You are encouraged to bring an example of your own work. We will set up a Gallery Show of participants work for viewing Friday evening, during our social hour. The office at Ghost Ranch closes at noon. To register for your room, arrive before noon, or wait until the afternoon.

Three day demo and hands on workshop:
Day 1
Basic Forms:
Throwing Demonstration - starting on the wheel, Susan will discuss design ideas and techniques. The class will all throw and alter some basic forms.
Day 2
Designing and altering complex forms
Susan will continue throwing and show a few ways to add details to cups and trays. The focus will be to assemble several altered forms. She will discuss her approach to porcelain and her favorite tools: various ribs, graters scrapers, and paddles that she finds most useful. Glaze, clay and safety handouts will be discussed.
Afternoon will be hands-on with continuing instruction and demonstration
Day 3
Finishing altered and sculptural form. Hands-on time for finishing projects.
Porcelain slip decoration – the class will have an opportunity to decorate some leather hard pieces.
