Grant Recipients:
Placitas
community mural project entitled “Protect
Our Wildlife Corridors” by Pathways:
The
Pathways organization is a grass-roots volunteer group
that has been working in conjunction with other groups
in the state to create public and government awareness
of the part NM plays in the mapped migration routes of
animals from Mexico to Canada and Alaska. The award is
to assist with a large mural on the block wall outside
of the Placitas re-cycling center, visible from the local
highway. It is proposed to ultimately be eight panels, each
6 1/2’ H
x 9’ W. Three
panels have already been installed, with others in progress. See
pictures of this project, below-right.
McCurdy
School / Art Department:
The McCurdy School is a small,
established private school serving K through High School
located between Espanola and Chimayo.
Potters’ Guild
of Las Cruces:
The request from the Potters’ Guild was to
provide scholarships to a workshop which will be part of
the regional juried exhibition ”From the Ground Up” beginning
in September.

Past Grant
Recipients:
The 2008
Bill Armstrong Grant was awarded to Ghost Ranch for improvements
to the ceramic workshop space.
This grant was used to create a level flooring surface

| Bill Armstrong Grant:
|
Each year, the New Mexico Potters and Clay Artists present
a grant to encourage ceramic art education or programs in ceramic
arts in New Mexico. |
The New Mexico Potters and Clay Artists established the Bill
Armstrong Grant in memory of a late, distinguished member,
and in the spirit of his own pursuits. The annual grant supports
organizations and projects which further education and experiences
in clay arts.
The
annual award is a minimum of $500 and a maximum of up to $1000,
to be determined by the Board, based upon individual needs. Proposals
for lesser amounts would also be welcome for consideration. |
Use of funds: Funds may be used for purchasing
supplies or equipment, contracting with a visiting artist,
marketing/publicizing a special program or project or other
activities directly related to ceramic art education. |
Eligibility: Individuals, 501(c)3 organizations
and educational institutions located in New Mexico are eligible
to apply. Members of the New Mexico Potters and Clay Artists
are not eligible to submit grant requests as individuals. If,
however, a member works for or is associated with an organization
or educational institution, he/she may apply on behalf of that
organization. |
Procedure: Submit a proposal with the
following information:
- Applicant’s name, address, phone, email
- A description of the project or program, including dates,
location, etc.
- A description of who will benefit from this project/program
and what are the anticipated outcomes.
- A description of the organization or a resume of the individual
applying for the grant
- Specify exactly how the funds will be used and, if the
cost is more than requested, identify the other funding sources
- Provide a simple income/expense statement for the project/program
- Copy of IRS designation letter (if applicant is 501(c)3
organization)
Proposals should be prepared on 8.5x11 paper. Be sure to
include other supporting materials such as photographs, brochures,
newsletters, etc. |
Deadline: Proposals for each year award
will be accepted from October through February 1
(postmark by). Funds will be distributed no later than June
30. Proposals should be mailed to:

the Bill Armstrong Grant |
| The
New Mexico Potters and Clay Artists has established an annual grant
program in memory of our late distinguished member, Bill Armstrong.
Bill was instrumental in teaching many people about pottery
and was always interesting in experimenting, learning more,
and helping others.
In this spirit, New Mexico Potters
gives an annual grant to
assist with a ceramics education program or a ceramic art
project. |
