NMPCA 2016 Ghost Ranch Workshop

Ceramic Surfaces:  Keep on Top of It

September 9-11, 2016 – 2 day workshop

This year we return to our popular New Mexico Connections format with short presentations by several presenters.  Six master potters will lead short programs, each on a different technique for treating the surface of your pottery or sculpture.  This popular workshop format brings together artists interested and expert in many different techniques and methods and results in a very lively exchange.  All participants learn from the presenters and from each other in the process of having great fun.

Our focus this year is on techniques to finish the surface of clay:  You’ve read the books, you’ve watched the you-tube demos, you’ve see the articles…now you can try the techniques out and see how they work for yourself.

Presenters for this workshop include

Lauren Karle presenting Sewing Clay:  Darting Slip-transferred Slabs

Mary Sharp Davis with Slip Trailing and Other Quick Surface Textures

Judy Nelson-MooreSculptural Surfaces

Barbara Campbell presenting Carving, How to Make It Pop

Abby Salsbury presenting Layering and Depth

Lee Akins presenting Dry, Textured Surfaces

Accommodations at Ghost Ranch this year are limited to "dormitory-style" rooms with shared bath and camping.  Alternative accommodation can be obtained at Abiquiu Inn at a discount when attending the NMPCA workshop.

We call ourselves the NMPCA!
