“Contemporary Ceramics: Informed by Tradition”
Creating in clay has a long, rich history of over 10,000 years that spans continents and cultures. As contemporary clay artists we are all influenced by this age-old human tradition. This show seeks to highlight the many ways in which we as artists in present times reflect and are inspired by the past and marry the ancient aesthetics with not only with 21st century technology but also contemporary vision.
This exhibit is coordinated with the Taos Spring Arts Festival. “Spring Arts” in Taos is celebration that showcases visual, performing, and literary arts of the community. Four galleries on Kit Carson Rd will be co-hosting this years’ show.

Images received by March 15 will be considered for use in publicity. All images must be uploaded by April 1, 2018.
INSURANCE and LIABILITY
All showing galleries are insured. However, NMPCA does not insure art work while being transported to and from central collection points and galleries. Artists desiring insurance are advised to arrange for coverage themselves. Artist exhibiting work agree to hold the NMPCA volunteers harmless from any costs or claims arising out of any damages or losses in handling, transporting, packing, and/or unpacking of work. We will do our best to take care of the work.
SIZE OF WORK and LIMITATIONS
All work submitted to the show must have an accurate photographic representation. No works may be substituted. Galleries have limited wall space and are unsuitable for heavy or large 2-D installations. If you are planning on a wall piece, please contact us in advance so we can determine feasibility. All work must be gallery ready with hanging system installed on the work.
Freestanding work should fit safely on an 18”x18” base. It may be possible to install larger work providing space is available but artist will be required to install and remove the work them self—again advance notice is required. We will not accept work we deem as unsafe or damaged.
VOLUNTEERS
Please volunteer in order to make this exhibit possible. We need your help. See the confirmation email for special instructions about volunteer jobs. Read your confirmation email for details, or go the Celebration of Clay website here to see the details of the tasks and then sign up for a task on the task event registration before you complete your entry. If you absolutely can not help we understand and would still like you to participate and ask that you also pay an extra $25 for each piece in the exhibition.
