Three Women figurative sculptures

3 Women:

“Her Soul Longing for Itself” 30 ½ x 8 ½ x 7 $1000

“That Your Passion May Live Through its Own Daily Resurrection” 34 x 9 x 7 ½ sold

“The Deeper the Sorrow Carves Into Your Being The More Joy You Can Contain” 33 x 8 ½ x 8 ½ sold

These 3 pieces started out being about reaching beyond limits. They became an expression of going through the fire of a breast cancer diagnosis. The series continues on a much lighter note.

“The Fullness Within”
13 x 13 x 21 NFS

This piece is part of my ongoing series of coil constructed pots impressed with woven fabric and basketry, an expression of my anthropological background.

The fullness Within

Artist's Statement:

Having my hands in clay, watching what emerges brings me joy. I work with clay in answer to a calling, a yearning of my soul. Being in nature is an important source for my work. The quiet, the calm, the colors and textures, the wind through the trees, the flow of the river are all inspirations to me.

Throughout the ages, people have worked with clay, for functional purposes and for artistic expression. The influence of archaeology can be seen in the traditional forms and hand building methods of my vessels, formed primarily through the ancient method of coil construction.

I find the process of working with clay meditative: in part intentional, in part open to something greater flowing through. As I work, there is both expression and discovery. Inevitably, what comes up is yet another question: What is revealed, and what is still hidden?
Red Tray with Glass

“Tray with Red Glass” 6 x 3 ½ $20
I love the color and depth that results from melting glass in some of my pieces.
