THE SESSIONS
Image Transfer onto Clay and Tile Making by Maggie Mae Beyeler

In the session on Image Transfer, we will learn how to transfer any image onto a glazed ceramic piece using laser toner transfer images. In the workshop you will learn what kind of image works best, firing instructions, how to apply the image, and more.

During the Tile Making session, Maggie will instruct us in a variety of ways to make and decorate tile using press molds, templates, and tile cutters.
Brushwork with Jim Romberg

Mr. Romberg will instruct us in making brushes out of fur and animal tail followed by a discussion and demonstration of surfance treatments for all temperatures of ceramics. This will include brushwork, spraying, stencil and other inventive ways of treating the ceramic surface.
Fume Firing in Paper Kilns with Barbara Campbell

We will construct and fire paper clay kilns. The kiln will be constructed around green or bisque ware (bring something of your own) finished with terra sigillata. The firing will start in the afternoon and go into the evening. During the firing, we will introduce fuming materials and other interesting additions. The kiln will cool overnight and be unloaded the next morning.

Latex Molds for Texture and Small Press Molds by Linda Kastner

Is there a texture somewhere you just love...perhaps on a rock or a tree? Latex is a wonderful way to recreate those textures and bring them into your studio to use in your work. Along with learning how to use latex to create texture, you will learn how to make spring or small press molds using latex and plaster gauze as the "mother mold." Bring or find objects with interesting texture and a small object, such as a 1-2 inch shell, from which you will make a mold.
