DANA  SENGE

Dana’s work focuses on hand-built sculpture carved with branch, root, and grass textures. Many of her sculptures depict animal activity in an attempt to dig deeper into their stories, ecology, and systems. She is very interested in the flora and fauna of the Southwest and loves bringing these together in her work. 

Dana started playing with art materials as a child and formally studied art in college. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Western Washington University, where she focused on painting and textiles. This foundation helped her achieve a Master of Arts in Art Conservation from Buffalo State College and work as an art conservator for many years. In 2013, she began working with clay through classes with the Tucson Clay Co-op in Tucson, AZ and developed the sculptural style she is still working with today.

In recent years her work has been exhibited in group shows at the Arvada Art Center, Arvada, CO; the Mesa Contemporary Art Museum, Mesa, AZ; and at the National Museum of Wildlife Art, Jackson, WY.
