This registration is to signal intent to apply for the annual grant program for education in the ceramics arts.  Register here online and then send supporting documentation via email or mail.

The Armstrong Grant was established in memory of our late distinguished member, Bill Armstrong. Bill was instrumental in teaching many people about pottery and was always interesting in experimenting, learning more, and helping others.

In this spirit, New Mexico Potters gives an annual grant to assist with a ceramics education program or a ceramic art project.

The annual award is up to $1000, to be determined by the Board, based upon individual needs. Proposals for lesser amounts would also be welcome for consideration.

Use of funds: Funds may be used for purchasing supplies or equipment, contracting with a visiting artist, marketing/publicizing a special program or project or other activities directly related to ceramic art education.

Eligibility: 501(c)3 organizations and educational institutions located in New Mexico are eligible to apply.

    Procedure:

    1.  Fill in this grant registration with name, address, phone, email and brief description of the project.

    2.  Provide additional support documentation via email or paper mail.  Support documentation should include:

    • Applicant’s name, address, phone, email
    • A description of the project or program, including dates, location, budget, etc.
    • A description of who will benefit from this project/program and what are the anticipated outcomes.
    • A description of the organization applying for the grant
    • Specify exactly how the funds will be used and, if the cost is more than requested, identify the other funding sources
    • Provide a simple income/expense statement for the project/program
    • Copy of IRS designation letter (if applicant is 501(c)3 organization)

After the grant is awarded, the recipient organization is expected to

    • Provide documentation to show funds were used as described in the proposal
    • Provide pictures for website and publicity purposes
    • Give funding credit to NMPCA in newsletter, press release, website or other forms of communication.

Deadline: Proposals for each year award will be accepted from October through March 15 (postmark by). Decision on the award will be made by June 30. Proposals should be mailed to:

    hosted by

New Mexico Potters & Clay Artists

    and

    Santa Fe Clay Gallery

Opening Reception: Friday April 26, 2019 from 5 -7 pm

Show runs from April 26 to May 31 2019

As a member of New Mexico Potters & Clay Artists, you are invited to participate in our annual Celebration of Clay exhibit. This show is our opportunity to share exciting ceramic creations.

This show's title was inspired by the idea of inclusiveness, based on the city, Santa Fe, in which this exhibit will take place. There are as many approaches to clay and the ceramic arts as you can imagine. This art form has been on the planet as long as people have but it can also lend itself to a completely contemporary expression too. We invite you to explore what inclusiveness means to you for the next Celebration of Clay. What will you create for Many Hands, Many Ways?

    Three steps to register:

ONE  Enter one or two entries on this website, nmpca.com by "registering" for this event.  Enter the first entry by selecting Registration type "1..." and then register again for this same event if you want to enter a 2nd entry, selecting Registration type "2...".  If you are a student, you can make two entries to the same "Student" registration type.  Be sure to follow-through the payment via paypal.  Do this starting January 1st.  Registration closes April 1st or whenever we receive enough registrations to fill the show.

TWO  Upload your images and descriptions to NMPCA.NET.  This is a separate image upload site.  Instructions for preparing your image and using the site are in the confirmation email you will receive after you have completed your entry in step one.  This must be completed by March 15 for a chance to have your image included in the show publicity or April 1st at the latest to insure show participation.

THREE  Go to the event "Celebration of Clay Tasks" and sign up for a task or make a contribution to the show setup and staging.  Putting on the Celebration of Clay is a group effort and we need your help.

    AWARDS

Awards will be selected by an award jury.  Awards will be announced at the reception on April 26.

    - Best of Show:  $150

    - UNM Arita Porcelain Award for Beauty, Quality and Functionality: $100

    - Three $50 Merit Awards.

Who does the work of presenting the Celebration of Clay?  You do!

Sign-up for Tasks to be completed between now and the end of the show, January 1st through June 5, 2019.

It takes the combined effort of a lot of people to present the annual Celebration of Clay.  We have identified 20 jobs needing some 50 people doing those jobs.  We make it easy for you to decide how you can help and sign up.  You select one or more tasks that you want to perform by "registering" for a job here on this event.  Just choose a "new registration" to sign up for an additional task.

We can't put on the annual Celebration of Clay exhibition without a lot of effort on the part of our members.  There are tasks that are widely varied in the times they are to be performed, the skills required, and the location.  Several can be done at home.  Several are contiguous on the same day and place, making it easy to sign up for two tasks or flexible if your time is limited.

If you absolutely cannot perform any of the tasks, but still want to participate in the show, would you be willing to contribute to the expenses of the show?  You can do that here...select the final "task" in this registration.

    See All Task Details

It is important that you review all the jobs and the details of what is involved, the perform date, and the location and conditions.  Scroll down on the list at left to see all the details.

To sign up for the first task, select register at the bottom of the list, then select the task, and follow the prompts.  To sign up for another task, register a second time for this same event, but select a different task.

Signing up for each task is limited to the number of people needed for that task.  If there is a task you really want to do, but it is already fully taken, you can sign up for the waitlist on that task.  If someone can't do their job, we will ask you to step in.  Or, sign up for task #21 and we'll find a job that we didn't anticipate for you to help with.

Thank you so much for helping put on this show!

We are holding the 2019 v-Camp on the weekend of the Blue Grass Festival, May 17-19.  This allows us to have fun attending the final festival concert...always great fun.  During the days, we will be working hard to maintain facilities in the Pinon Ceramic studio.

The Ranch is providing free housing and meals for those working during Volunteer Camp.  Housing is in "dorm" room with bathrooms down the portal.  We will have separate Men's and Women's rooms, with 3-5 beds in each.

2016 V-Camp, Jack Roberts, Fixes shelves in studio at Ghost Ranch.V-Camp is a great time for members to get to know one another and to have an exchange of ideas while working to maintain the facility. The mission statement of the NMPCA is to promote education in the ceramic arts, and by maintaining this site we are contributing to the well being of this magical educational facility, making sure it is kept in good working condition for our 2019 workshops and beyond.

Work activities this year include:  Repairing the gas kiln, replastering the fuming kiln, finishing the wood working on the portal, general cleanup and moving, inventory of materials and preparing list of needed replacements, preparation of a manual for use of critical equipment for the ranch to use.

If you have questions, call Barbara Campbell, the event coordinator, at (575) 581-4430 or email becampbell33@gmail.com

We will let you know about any special items to bring, but in general work gloves, work clothes, dust masks for cleanup and sturdy shoes, rakes, shovel, pick-ax, trowel.

Ghost Ranch V-Camp has a long and productive history.  Here's the crew from 2008.
